Ettore M. Lombardi
Ettore Maria Lombardi is Of Counsel at Gitti and Partners, where he focuses on private economic law, international commercial contracts, banking and financial law, and digital society law. He advises industrial companies, financial groups, and technology operators on the structuring and negotiation of cross-border contracts (including the sale of goods and services, distribution, agency, licensing, and joint ventures), as well as on international commercial ADR proceedings, with particular attention to the impact of new technologies—artificial intelligence, algorithms, blockchain, the metaverse, and the data economy—on business models and on the protection of individual and investor rights.
He is Professor of Private Law, Digital Society Law, and Copyright Law at the University of Florence and has developed solid expertise in banking and financial regulation, also through his appointments as a member of the Banking and Financial Ombudsman (Arbitro Bancario Finanziario) of the Bank of Italy and as Chair of Supervisory Bodies pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 231 of 2001 for leading industrial and financial groups. He holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in Civil Law from the University of Florence, an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, degrees in Theology and Canon Law (J.C.D.) from the Pontifical Lateran University, and has earned an Advanced Certificate in Artificial Intelligence from the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford, as well as two Advanced Certificates in Business Sustainability Management and Sustainable Finance from the University of Cambridge, which he integrates into his advisory work on digital innovation and sustainable finance projects.
He thus brings to Gitti and Partners a hybrid skill set - academic and professional, domestic and international - that combines strong theoretical depth with operational pragmatism in the management of complex transactions, digital innovation programs, and sustainable finance projects. This enables him to support Italian and international clients throughout all stages of the business cycle, from the negotiation of international commercial agreements to the structuring of banking and financial transactions, as well as the prevention and resolution of disputes through advanced ADR mechanisms, with particular attention to compliance, technological governance, and the protection of fundamental rights in the digital society.
